My photo
Hi there! As you can see, my name is Chris, I'm at university and I'm currently 21 years old, but there's more to know than my name and age. So what am I doing then? Well I'm studying Game Art at DMU. I am aiming to be one of the top proffesional vehicle artists in the industry. In the meantime, check out this Blog of mine and when your finished, take a look at my website!

Started to texture the model now, looking good.

Almost There

So close to unwrapping the model now, cant wait to texture it. Ive modelled the body panel seams along with making the front nose cone detachable from the main body of the car.

Only need to add detail to the floor, add full suspension, steering wheel + seat then finish the diffuser. Then do a good check of the entire model and loose any uneeded polygons

W03 Update 2

Getting good now!

W03 Update

Progressing nicely on finishing the model. Only major areas that need modelling now is the splitter and diffuser, then il go about adding the final details to the floor and complete the alloys.

Mclaren MP4-12C FINISHED!!!!

Here it is!

After so many attempts at trying to get HDRIs working and understanding Vrays many settings, ive produced a final render that im very happy with!

Below is a screen cap of the scene in 3Ds Max

HDRI update

Looking okay for now, definatly an improvement from yesterday.

HDRI Update 2

Done more renders, still an absolute pain to get shity results. Im still finding a few problems with getting to grips with Vrays render settings, im finding it very difficult to produce crisp renders with no little noise.

Here is an older mental ray render that actualy looks rather cool with a bit of post.

And here is a good HDRI render which is what im aiming to create with this mclaren!

Il carry on as usual and do more tutorials about Vray and HDRI!

HDRI update

Spent some more time doing hdri tutorials and finaly found one that seems to give out reasonable results. Going to try it again with a much simpler background and a standard horizon reflection for the car. This was a render without any specific lighting.

W03 update

UDK screenshots of the model so far. Still need to re-topologise some parts of the model, hense the black lines. After the modelling is finished il then cut the body panels up to add extra detail. Then i can start the fun part by texturing and baking those normals!

Watch Dogs

Check out this trailer for a brand new IP from Ubisoft, it looks incredible. Is this the first next gen game being shown?

Engine modelled, interior almost completed

Nearly have most of the model completed now, yet to assign any proper materials and shaders to the model as this is still in Mental Ray.
